StarryTime

✦ For families with kids 3–12 · Android

Tonight's story is about them.

StarryTime writes an original bedtime story around your child — their name, their interests, their kind of adventure — and performs it with warm, expressive narration that whispers, gasps, and glows. A brand-new story every night, ready in minutes.

Why StarryTime

Not another storybook app.
A storyteller.

Audiobook apps replay the same stories until everyone is bored of them. Text-to-speech apps read in a flat robot voice. StarryTime does neither.

Narration with real feeling

Every story is written with acting directions baked in — a hush here, a gasp there, a triumphant cheer at the end. The narrator performs the story, it doesn't just read it out.

Starring your child

Tell us a first name, an age, and what they love — dinosaurs, football, unicorns in space — and the story is woven around them. Add your own idea, or let the app surprise you.

New every single night

Six story styles — bedtime, adventure, spooky, funny, fairy tale, animals — four narration moods, and your child's imagination. No two stories are ever the same.

Made for bedtime

A calm night-sky design with no bright flashes, playback that keeps going with the screen off, lock-screen controls, and a sleep timer that fades the story out as they drift off.

Yours to keep

Every story — words and audio — is saved on your device, not in someone else's cloud. Replay favourites forever, fully offline, without using up a single story credit.

Safe by design

Age-tuned guardrails for little (3–5), middle (6–8), and big kids (9–12), safety filtering on every story, the full text always available to read, and a one-tap report button.

How it works

From "one more story, please" to press play — in minutes

Pick tonight's recipe

Choose a story style, a narration mood, and how long it should be. Tell us who's listening and, if you like, what the story should be about — "a dragon who's scared of birthday candles" works beautifully.

We write it & give it a voice

An original story is written just for you, checked against age-tuned safety guardrails, and performed with expressive narration. It's usually ready in 1–4 minutes — wait, or carry on and get a notification.

Lights down, press play

The story lands in your library, downloaded to your device. Play it tonight with the sleep timer on, and replay it every night after — offline, free, forever.

The narration difference

Written like a script.
Performed like one.

Most story apps paste text into a text-to-speech engine and hope for the best. StarryTime writes every story with stage directions, so the narrator knows exactly where to slow down, hush to a whisper, or burst with excitement.

Two narrators to choose from — Milo, warm and gentle, and Saadia, bright and soothing — each shaped to match the story's mood.

A look inside

Deep starlit navy, warm glowing gold, and type that reads like a storybook. Calm for small eyes at night — and genuinely lovely for yours.

For parents

Built like we'd want it for our own kids

You're always in the loop

Accounts are created and managed by a grown-up. Every story's full text is one tap away in the player, so you can read along — or vet a story before lights-out.

Age-tuned, twice-checked

Stories are written against children's-content guardrails scaled to the age band you pick, then checked again by safety filters before narration. Spot something off anyway? Report it from the player in one tap.

Honest about the AI

Stories and narration are AI-generated — that's what makes a brand-new, personalised story possible every night. We're upfront about it, we filter for it, and we never clone real people's voices.

Private in this version — and by intent

No ads, no third-party analytics, no advertising IDs. Your story inputs are used to create your story; your library lives on your phone. The privacy policy spells out every detail in plain English.

Questions, answered

FAQ

Is StarryTime free?

Yes. The free plan includes two personalised short stories every month, a collection of ready-made starter stories, and the full player with background playback and the sleep timer. A monthly subscription adds more stories, longer stories, a second narrator, and saved listener profiles.

Are the stories really written by AI?

Yes — and we say so plainly. Each story is generated on our servers by a leading AI model from your choices, passed through children's-content safety filters tuned to your child's age band, then performed by an expressive AI narrator. You can read every word in the app, and report any story with one tap.

Is it safe for young children?

StarryTime is built for families. Accounts are created and managed by a parent or guardian. Every story is filtered against children's-content guardrails scaled to the age you choose (3–5, 6–8, 9–12). There are no ads, no third-party analytics, and no advertising identifiers — ever.

What does StarryTime do with my child's information?

You choose what to share: a first name, an age range, and interests. In this version they're used only to write and narrate your story, and your story library — text and audio — lives on your device, not in a cloud library. The privacy policy lists exactly what is processed and for how long.

Does it work offline?

Creating a new story needs an internet connection. Everything already in your library plays fully offline — perfect for travel, flights, and shaky hotel Wi-Fi.

Which devices does it support?

StarryTime is an Android app supporting Android 10 and later, coming soon to Google Play. iOS isn't available in this version.

Can I cancel the subscription any time?

Yes. Billing is handled by Google Play, and you can cancel in a couple of taps from the Play Store or from inside the app. Every story you've already created stays on your device and keeps playing — cancelling never takes your library away.

How long does a story take to create?

Usually one to four minutes. You can wait and watch, or continue in the background and get a notification the moment the story is ready.
